Green Tea Extract for Skin Detoxification

Many of us drink green tea in the morning, but did you know that green tea can be used to cleanse your skin? This herbal tea is made from the camellia sinensis plant. However, green tea extract is a supplement that is acqured from this plant. The health benefits of this extract extend beyond cosmetic use of treating acne and making skin look younger (but hey, that can’t hurt). High concentrations of it may actually help prevent melanoma and nonmelanoma skin cancers as well.

Uses of Green Tea Extract

Applied topically, Green Tea Extract soothes acne, calms skin irritation, evens out pigmentation, and dispels cellulite. In addition to relieving redness and swelling, it also repairs damage, exfoliates, and decreases the appearance of blackheads. It also eliminates dead skin, dirt, bacteria, and other dermal imperfections. EGCG, a compound in the extract, is proven to be effective in treating a wide range of skin concerns. This makes this herbal extract ideal for detoxifying all skin types regardless of age group.

How does it Work?

Green tea has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties, creating an ideal treatment for acne-prone and oily skin. An antioxidant is a crucial component of green tea extract. These help our bodies fight harmful free radicals and reduce the damaging effects of oxidation. Needless to say, if you struggle with oily skin, or any other skin issue, this could be a worthwhile treatment.

Overall the effectiveness of Green Tea Extract as a skin detoxifier is proven repeatedly. In addition to preventing new acne from forming, green tea also reduces the severity of existing acne, and helps with anti-aging. Perhaps it’s time for many of you to reconsider simply using green tea as a delicious beverage and start applying it to your skin care regimen to achieve the cleanse you please.
