Gold-winning LED pharmacotherapy system arrives as energy and light-based devices drive growth in Canada’s aesthetic devices market, estimated at US$1.61 billion in 2026
DermaSpark Products Inc., the exclusive Canadian distributor of Dermalux LED pharmacotherapy systems, today announced that the Dermalux Tri-Wave MD has been awarded Gold for Best Photodynamic Therapy Device at the Medical Beauty Awards 2026. The Tri-Wave MD delivers three clinically proven wavelengths (Blue 415nm, Red 633nm and Near-Infrared 830nm) simultaneously at up to 240 J/cm² per session, and is licensed by Health Canada for use in Canadian clinics.
The recognition comes as energy and light-based devices become one of the main growth engines in Canada’s aesthetic devices market, which Mordor Intelligence estimates at US$1.61 billion in 2026, rising to a projected US$2.95 billion by 2031. Energy-based devices accounted for 63.78% of that market in 2025. LED pharmacotherapy has become a core service for Canadian clinics because it is non-invasive, requires no downtime, and can be offered as a standalone treatment or alongside other aesthetic procedures.
How clinics use LED pharmacotherapy
Industry data shows LED pharmacotherapy is used across three main applications:
- Post-procedure healing and skin rejuvenation (~50% of sessions): supporting recovery after treatments such as microneedling and laser resurfacing.
- Acne management (~30% of sessions): targeting acne-causing bacteria and inflammation.
- Inflammation, pain management, and hair restoration (~20% of sessions).

The Tri-Wave MD is designed to serve all three, both as a standalone LED pharmacotherapy treatment and as a complement to other modalities. Its patented TripleWave technology lets practitioners deliver each wavelength individually, together, or in sequence, allowing clinics to offer dedicated acne, skin rejuvenation, and calming treatments, as well as support recovery after other procedures. The device also includes a dedicated photodynamic therapy (PDT) mode.
“Canadian clinics need technology that delivers value both on its own and alongside other treatments. The Tri-Wave MD offers standalone LED pharmacotherapy for concerns such as acne and skin rejuvenation, while also supporting recovery after microneedling and laser. This Gold award confirms what our partner clinics already see every day, and we’re proud to bring it to Canada exclusively,” said Moshe Ben-Shlomo, CEO of DermaSpark Products Inc.
Flexible LED pharmacotherapy protocols
Tri-Wave MD LED pharmacotherapy can be delivered as a standalone treatment or incorporated into a broader treatment plan. Applying a topical serum is optional, not a mandatory step in routine LED pharmacotherapy. Where a suitable non-light-sensitive serum is used, it is an optional skincare adjunct rather than a light-activated agent. The device’s articulated four-panel LED head provides even light coverage on the face and body. Its dedicated PDT mode supports a separate medical application involving a photosensitising drug, distinct from routine LED pharmacotherapy.
Key features of the Dermalux Tri-Wave MD include:
- Three wavelengths delivered concurrently: Blue 415nm (anti-bacterial), Red 633nm (rejuvenation), and NIR 830nm (healing)
- Up to 240 J/cm² per session, the highest output in the Dermalux range
- Proprietary ceramic LEDs engineered for aesthetic and dermatological use, rated for a minimum of 80,000 hours
- Preset programs, custom protocols and a dedicated PDT mode on a full-colour touch screen
- Hands-free treatment with no consumables
- Designed and made in Britain, and licensed by Health Canada
