Improved Acne & Psoriasis Treatments
ACNE: Clear effectively without concerns of patient compliance
Mistral clears acne more effectively and naturally. When treating patients for mild to severe Acne, patient compliance to the program or protocol continues to be an issue. LHE® phototherapy provides near-immediate results, with clinical studies showing up to 70% reduction in the number of acne lesions after 4 biweekly sessions.
HOW THE MISTRAL TREATS ACNE: LHE® Acne phototherapy uses broadband wavelength visible light (430-100nm), along with heat to initiate a process that leads to destruction of the Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes), thought to be on of the leading causes in the formation of acne lesions. Visible light generates an anti-inflammatory effect, near-infrared light reduces sebum production, and directed heat reduces inflammation, soothes pain and accelerates the healing process.
This multi-pronged attack is clinically proven to be highly effective, with results often taking 1/3 the time of standard treatments.
PSORIASIS: Treat safely & more effectively
Of the many methods used to treat psoriasis, exposure to the natural rays of the sun is the oldest. From there, generated UV therapy was adopted. The major drawback to conventional UV therapy is full-body exposure, increasing the risk of skin cancer and restricting the amount of treatments possible.
HOW THE MISTRAL TREATS PSORIASIS: LHE® Psoriasis phototherapy uses broad spectrum light (no UV light), eliminating the cancer risk and safely allowing more frequent sessions. LHE® targets light (350-1100nm) and heat directly to the affected area, aiding in coagulating and destroying the overdeveloped capillary system that supplies the plaque with nutrients. This inhibits cell reproduction and the plaques resolve. Heat reduces swelling and inflammation, bringing almost instant relief to the painful itch of psoriasis.
In clinical studies, an improvement of 65% or above was obtained, in comparison to 7.4% reduction with a popular salicylic acid treatment.

A Scalable Long-Term Investment
Built with today’s demands in mind and an eye on tomorrow, Mistral offers a computerized modular approach. For example, today the Mistral offers 5 applications:
- Hair removal
- Skin Rejuvenation (including collagen renewal, fine line & wrinkle elimination, skin texture improvement and toning, vascular lesion removal, and rosacea and angioma treatments)
- Skin Tightening
- Acne Treatment
- Psoriasis Care
Each application uses a different lightweight and ergonomically designed handpiece, colour-coded for quick and easy identification. In future, as other applications become available, you are able to add a new handpiece and upgrade device! The Mistral is a long-term, scalable investment like no other.
The Mistral is totally computerized, intuitive, and easy to work with. By using the advanced touch screen, the practitioner can easily control all the customers’ data that is saved on the onboard database including patients’ medical history, all administered treatments, settings used, and other relevant parameters for each and every patient. Clear and intuitive menus lead the therapist through the accurate selection of skin type and the system automatically sets the power and the right configuration based on the client data.
Productivity and Efficiency
The Mistral is one of the most productive and efficient systems in the industry. With a standard spot size of 12 sq cm (and optional aperture size of 18 sq cm!) a full man’s back (or chest) hair removal session can be completed in less than 25 min or less than 12 min with the extra large spot size. Treat any hair colour or skin type By using Optimal Pulse Train technology (OPT), the Mistral allows you to treat different skin types. Customized preprogrammed protocols for applications and skin type set each pulse train to obtain optimal results by taking advantage of the difference between the targeted chromophore and the skin’s natural thermal relaxation time. This is especially helpful when treating darker skin types. Due to the high melanin content, Skin Types IV, V and VI are particularly sensitive to light based skin rejuvenation treatment. Treating these skin types, therefore, requires a delicate balance of light and heat. On its own, LHE is a proven solution. Optional Sensitive Care handpieces for darker and sensitive skin types increase safety and comfort levels without sacrificing results.

About LHE® Technology
Maximum Safety & Comfort
Light & Heat Energy technology (LHE®) skin phototherapy solutions combine both light and thermal energies so the total intensity it utilizes is low in comparison to other technologies. In other words, LHE achieves excellent results at a low fluence, making LHE the safest technology in the market. There is no down time, treatment is comfortable, and there is no need to cool the skin with cooling gels or systems which cuts cost, time, and inconvenient mess. Also, the absence of a skin cooling mechanism means the hand piece is free of heavy liquids and/or cold tips, making the LHE handset very light and safe and easy to use… no “tennis elbow” for LHE operators.
Effective on very fair to dark skin and hair types
LHE systems are particularly suited to treat more sensitive skin and even have a special application for dark skin types (V and VI). As it combines the two energies (light and thermal energy, rather than just light), it has a significant advantage over the other technologies when it comes to removing blonde, fine and light hair (Vellus or “peach fuzz” hair).
Before & After
Q: What does “L-H-E” stand for?
A: “LHE” is the acronym for Light Heat Energy. It indicates that LHE technology synergizes two different ways to transfer energy – light and thermal energy – by convection.
Q: How is LHE different from the old IPL method?
A: The LHE utilizes two energies: the light and the thermal energy. Using the combination of the two energies reduces the light fluence which makes the LHE the safest technology on the market with no down time.
Q: Why is the light fluence lower than others?
A: As the technology uses both energies, the light fluence can be significantly reduced. Combining the two energies together creates an equivalent fluence of above 65 J/sq. cm. yet, the actual light fluence is no more than 15 J/sq. cm. In the case of the skin tightening application, light fluence could reach 25 J/sq. cm.
Q: Do I have to shave the customer before treatment?
A: LHE hair removal requires no shaving! Stubble (hair of 1 to 3mm) would be ideal for the treatment. By not having the customer shaved prior provides:
- Comfortable treatment whereby the skin is less sensitive
- Ease of use to the practitioners because they see exactly where the treatment was already done
- Save time per session, particularly after the first session because you only need to treat where you see hair growth and not the entire area.
Q: Can the customer see results immediately?
A: As no shaving is required and the treatment is being performed on short hair (1 to 3mm), the customer sees immediate results whereby the hair that was on the treated area prior to the session is totally gone. Clients can return to daily life immediately with no discomfort or burns.
Q: Why is the LHE considered as the safest technology in the market?
A: Unlike like other technologies, the LHE utilizes not only the light but also the thermal energy, thus, the total light fluence is low in compare to any other technology. Low light fluence results in safe and comfortable treatments.
Q: Is the hand piece heavy? Am I (or are my practitioners) going to suffer “Tennis Elbow” by working with the device?
A: The LHE requires no skin cooling system, no flowing cooling water and/or refrigerants in the hand piece, thus, the hand piece is light (the lightest in the industry!) which makes it easy and comfortable to use with no “tennis elbow” for the practitioner.
Q: Why does LHE not require skin cooling?
A: The LHE uses two energies, the light and the thermal energy. The thermal energy targets the follicle and is absorbed in the follicle rather than in the epidermises. As a result, there is no excess energy to be removed from the skin by cooling systems.
Q: Do I have to use jells and/or topical when I treat my customers?
A: The LHE does NOT require skin cooling systems or jells or other topical solutions. In fact, the LHE requires cleansing the skin before treatment.
Q: Do I need overlap between pulses when I treat the customers? A: No. No overlap is required between pulses. A slight overlap of less than 5% could be done to ensure full cover.
Q: Can I trade-in my old machine for a newer model?
A: Yes! Every machine can be traded-in for a newer model. Please contact your DermaSpark representative for more information.
Q: How does the Mistral allow me to expand my services to my clients over time?
A: The Mistral allows you to add more services as and when you wish. The Mistral supports a number of existing applications (hair removal, hair removal for dark skin V-VI, skin rejuvenation, skin tightening, acne and psoriasis) and future applications are released as the technology advances. As new applications are released, you do not need to purcahase a new device; rather, you simply upgrade the program and handset.
Q: Do I need a special power source to run the machine?
A: No, a normal 110V 60 Hz is sufficient.
Q: Do I need to fill the device with water or other liquids?
A: As the LHE requires no cooling systems, there is no need in topping up with water and/or other refrigerants.
Q: What is the life time of the hand piece?
A: The 12 sq. cm. face of the Mistral hand piece yields 50,000 pluses, covering 600,000 sq. cm. over time. The Kona hand piece provides 30,000 pulses that cover 360,000 sq. cm. The SpaTouch Elite hand piece gives 20,000 pulses that cover 240,000 sq. cm.
Q: How can I administer hair removal treatment on a dark skin patient (skin type V and VI)?
A: All the LHE systems have an optional hand piece specialized in treating dark skin types V & VI. LHE safely and effectively treats the darkest skin tones.
Q: How does the Acne treatment work?
A: The green light of the acne hand piece interacts with the Proform of the P. Acne bacteria generating oxygen. The P. Acne bacteria – which is anaerobic bacteria – can not survive in an environment that contains oxygen, therefor eliminating the cause of the acne blemish.
Q: When treating large surface areas, how can I shorten the treatment times?
A: With optional extra large hand piece that has an effective area of 18 sq. cm. (the largest in the market) one can clear a man’s back in less than 15 minutes.
Q: Does the machine come with training?
A: Yes, comprehensive training is provided with every device we carry!
Q: Is the Mistral approved by Health Canada?
A: Yes, the Health Canada license number for the Mistral is 76961. You can verify any product by logging on to the Health Canada website www.mdall.ca and searching for the specific machine and/or Company name.
